Distribution of power is one of the major elements in all power schemes, which, if neglected, can lead to severe problems throughout the whole scheme. As such it is critical that the methods used to amend and alter distribution schemes are correct. Our staff have vast experience in this field, and have undertaken numerous distribution schemes from high level design fault level calculations right down to additional lighting and sockets for industrial premises. When any re-work is undertaken on distribution schemes our staff can recommend the optimum procedure for the client in terms of economy, technical merit and added-value for the client.

The distribution of power to a ferry vessel required upgrading during
a refit. Our team were contracted to undertake the installation of a new generator feeder breaker section on the existing switchboard, tie-in the busbars and re-arrange the downstream distribution to suit.
Installed breakers and switchgear were checked and verified as capable of carrying the increased fault current level that could be expected to be seen across the switchboard due to the additional generator power.
From these calculations, discrimination curves were produced to correctly adjust the settings on each of the protection ttrip units to maintain a reliable and fault tolerant power supply and distribution system.
