Altus innovations - project management

experience

Altus Innovations are capable of undertaking multi-disciplinary refurbishment work, which requires a broad understanding of all engineering aspects. The company can conduct such projects anywhere in the world which can result in considerable savings and extend the working life of the project concerned.

Our staff undertook a survey of seven harbour tugs and four pilot boats owned by the Kenya Ports Authority. Built on the Clyde, the tugs had been operational in Kenya for around ten years and were in need of extensive refurbishment.

To undertake such a project requires considerable management of the resources of suppliers, technical support, labour and procurement and planning services.

products

A team was dispatched to Kenya to conduct a thorough evaluation of the vessels. A proposal was submitted for total refurbishment over a three year period.

Procurement of all replacement and spare parts was coordinated through UK sources and around twenty container loads dispatched.

Development of a two year training and maintenance programme was also undertaken as part of this contract.

services

The success of the contract reflects the project management skills of Altus Innovations personnel, allowing them to smoothly co-ordinate all disciplines though a single source. The work scope included all shipbuilding engineering disciplines in a total supply, refurbish and commission package, bringing each of the vessels back into service and class, extending their working life and saving KPA a considerable amount of money. The maintenance and training contract developed for the local workforce ensured the future servicing of the vessels
