Altus innovations - estrela do ceara
project
The Blue Star was an existing 30,000dwt tanker which was renamed as the Estrela Do Ceara, and converted to a Floating Storage and Offloading (FSO) vessel for operation in the Brazilian Coruna offshore field.
Altus innovations staff were contacted by Vanguard Floating Production Ltd, who were responsible for the overall project management to undertake the electrical design, engineering, procurement, supply and installation package for the project.
This entailed increasing the existing power generation and distribution capacity to suit the additional FSO process equipment which was installed during the conversion. Technical support, procurement services and supervision of contractors during the installation and commissioning phases were also provided.
details
On this project, the four month timescale from contract award to completion dictated that the flow of materials, labour and logistics created no delays to final delivery. The design, procurement, supply, installation and commissioning of all items was undertaken to this deadline successfully.
The existing switchboard was modified to accept an new-build extension to increase the vessel capacity, and an additional generator to suit regulations was procured.
Our staff completed this package, including factory testing to classification society requirements within budget and on time.
Various other interface packages were also undertaken including updated process skid and fire and gas interfaces to the existing ship systems.
