Altus innovations are capable of executing multi-disciplinary marine vessel refurbishment work, involving an expertise that requires a broad understanding of marine engineering and the classic techniques of shipbuilding and ship repair procedures.
The company can conduct such projects anywhere around the world, with the results giving clients considerable cost savings by extending the working life of the vessels concerned.
MV Carousel is a cruise liner capable of carrying 1300 passengers. In 1997, Airtours approached our staff to find the most effective method of remove the existing ship power generation and installing and commissioning five new Deutz/AVK generator sets during a five week refit at Malta Dry Dock.

Our staff undertook a complete survey and followed this up with a detailed programme of refit work to ensure that all main and auxiliary support services were, firstly, able to be upgraded and , secondly, that the required materials and labour were scheduled for the tight timescale's involved.
Altus staff specified, engineered and commissioned the new generator installations, along with the Power Management System.
Design of all the aspects required was undertaken covering electrical, mechanical and structural aspects of the upgrade. All major items of equipment required were specified, and supplied.
Project management and site installation supervision was also provided as part of the full turnkey technical package to ensure that the full upgrade was controlled and supervised through a single source.

Our personnel planed the removal of the existing generation packages and sized and selected the upgraded sets based in the anticipated new electrical load schedules of the vessel. Design and technical liaison was provided with the equipment suppliers, other sub-contractors and the relevant classification society.
This project shows some of the experience our staff have in handling and successfully undertaking projects of a detailed and involved technical nature where there are there are diverse activities which require to be co-ordinated and controlled to meet extremely tight timescale's.
