Altus innovations staff are conversant with the latest Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS) regulations, and have been commissioned by several owners to undertake and achieve design work for the necessary electrical and electronic refurbishments work entailed aboard ships and ferries.
Caledonian MacBrayne operates a regular network of ferry services to provide essential services from the Scottish West Coast mainland ports to the various island communities around the coast. The company carries over five million passengers and over one million vehicles on board a fleet of thirty vessels varying in size and capacity.
The vessels are regularly dry docked for maintenance, and these periods allow various upgrade works to be undertaken whilst causing no disruption to passenger sailings.

Altus staff have undertaken various contracts in conjunction with Caledonian MacBrayne, primarily being surveys of existing ships, followed by preparation of design drawings and their submission for approval to the relevant certifying authority.
Also undertaken has been liaison with ship owners and electrical subcontractors to agree on schedules for the installation and commissioning of the systems, either during refit, or when the vessels are in operation.
Surveys have also been undertaken on ship's systems to ascertain as-built status and to produce engineering drawings for ship's staff to allow detailed examination of the respective systems.
Installation of additional equipment, and calibration of existing systems is regularly undertaken to ensure that the vessels remain at their prime operational state.
Call-out maintenance services are provided to assist the ship's staff with fault finding and repair or replacement of system components.

Altus innovations are capable of surveying, costing and managing upgrades of safety systems in line with current passenger ship regulations, and will undertake such services globally to the requirements of whichever certifying authorities the vessels operate under.
We also undertake rapid call-out maintenance to ensure that disruption to any vessels is limited, thus ensuring schedule disruptions are restricted to the minimum.
