Altus innovations - commissioning
project
Altus innovations provide full commissioning services, either as part of our own equipment supply, or for third party supplied equipment.
We have undertaken many projects for control system commissioning, ranging from single channel alarms to full system integration and setting up.
A typical example of our projects was a new build ship's generators which were giving the client problems during load sharing and synchronising. After we undertook a detailed investigation, the problems were reduced to governor motor control and response.
Examination of these found that the governor motor to fuel rack linkages had not been tested properly and set up accurately to enable matching of the generators to take place. By calibration of one set from no load to full load and adjustment of the linkages to suit the required end stops of both the governor motor camshaft and the fuel rack, generator response was now controlled within the designed limits.
After setting up the initial generator, the remaining generation could then be re-adjusted in a similar manner to give a stable and reliable generation system.
details
In commissioning of a project such as this, there were numerous possible causes to be investigated and rectified prior to pinpointing the root cause of the problem. This type of project requires methodical application and analytical problem solving to ensure that the exact cause of such events is addressed.
Working from little information, our staff undertook calibration of a control system component which had no setting-up procedures, and had not been correctly installed during the system build.
services
Altus can commission any plant or control system which your project incorporates, and can do so with the correct procedures, using the right equipment and can guarantee that the equipment will work as designed.
Where we supply control and instrumentation equipment, testing and commissioning comes as part of our standard service to the client in line with our quality commitments.
